Cranio sacral therapy
Craniosacral therapy is a light touch bodywork that balances the nervous system by making small adjustments to the body, typically the bones of the skull.
The cranial bones articulate to move cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) through the spinal cord from the cranium to the pelvis. The sacrum then sends the CSF back to the brain. This movement is known as the Cranial Rhythm or Cranial ‘Wave’ by craniosacral practitioners. It can be detected and influenced by the therapist.
Trauma, both physical and emotional, can impact the position of the bones and impede the flow of CSF. This can create a myriad of issues for our equine friends, and for humans as well.
The alignment of the cranial-sacral system also impacts other systems, including the myofascial and endocrine systems. Craniosacral therapy therefore treats the body as a whole to restore balance. . This is a very effective peice of the bigger picture.
